After a time in mixed veterinary practice, she has spent the last 15 years working on programmes seeking to
re-balance ethical, environmental and economic outcomes. Ruth’s approaches have challenged the status quo but focussed on practical solutions and collaborative actions to drive progress. She has published and contributed to numerous papers and her work has been commended, winning awards from the Oxford Farming Conference and British Veterinary Association (AWF), for scientific innovation and animal welfare but most importantly for the contribution to advocacy for animals and for nature.

From 2020 - 2025 she chaired the Food and Farming arm of a public interest initiative "Vet Sustain", and currently sits on the British Veterinary Associations Ethics and Welfare panel.
Peers and collaborators describe her as positive and energetic with strong personal integrity and she is influenced by a long-standing love of the natural world stemming from a childhood spent outdoors and amongst animals.
Ruth brings a wealth of knowledge and complementary dimensions to the Restore Nature philosophy and will be key in building momentum for the group.
